Scams...

A few sites that I thought they have some good potential turn out to be scams. The worst of them was ClixSurf. This site showed good signs with an attractive approach and a nice script. They managed to stay alife... 7 days.

Initially, they reported a hardware error and took the site offline. But this was not the end of them. They, suprisingly, returned with a professional email stating the transition to a new server. They lasted one more day ...

The last I heard about them was regarding a hacker or insider that stole all eGold funds from their account. I do believe this was only an excuse, they have clearly made path for their exit together with some good profit. At least my final lose with them was only $40.

Who can you trust? As I stated on one of my first posts in this forum, this is not an easy place to be. Internet makes it easy for thiefs or scammers to target your money. Often you are given nothing but a word contract and a virtual account in a not safe server. So, it is extremely risky.

When the sites have a bad plan then it might be acceptable. After all, we can live with that and most of times make some profit as well. But when they get our money and dissapear in the middle of the night, then it is ugly.

How one can protect himself? This is a crucial question. First of all there are signs of a good site. A professional design is one of them. SSL or/and NETIBA certification another. Good membership growth a third one. Promptly payments for some time a fourth one. Actually, I will collect all of them and post a message regarding good site signs in another post soon. Still, no matter how many good signs, a site may collapse - some times unexpectedly.

The bottom line; always expect the worse and plan for the best.
